Water softeners are great in softening hard water. There are two types of water softeners, which are the saltless water softeners and the salt base water softeners. Although both of these water softeners soften hard water, their methods are different, and hence, produce water that are different in terms of properties and features.

The major difference between their water softening method is the use of salt. Salt base water softeners replace the hard mineral ions in the hard water with sodium.
